Benefits of Alkaline Water
11 August, 2019Medical journals are constantly talking about what pregnant women can and cannot consume. It is common knowledge that alcohol and seafood are not a good idea for pregnant women, but no one really addresses whether alkaline water is safe or not. Most women probably don’t even know what alkaline water is, and they probably haven’t tested the pH of their water lately, either.
Alkaline water is safe
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that drinking water in the alkaline zone is harmful. Where pH levels are deliberately raised by municipal water companies, there is no evidence to suggest that the health of the people who drink it is affected in any way.
Benefits
Drinking alkaline water provides the sufficient alkalinity reserves that a pregnant woman needs to ensure both her baby’s and her own health during pregnancy. To avoid nausea and promote the development of a healthy baby, the mother should consume a large amount of alkaline water each day, both before and during pregnancy.
During early pregnancy, the mother’s body loses a large amount of alkaline minerals. These minerals are provided by the mother for the construction of the placenta and to neutralize the acids discharged by the fetus inside her during the nine months of gestation. This extraordinary need for alkalinity occurs while the mother sleeps. The collection of these alkaline minerals results in increased acidity in the woman’s body, giving rise to the common morning sickness.
